Meet Sarah Kopriva

Owner and hanger-upper extraordinaire

R Company

Background: Up until I was diagnosed with breast cancer and spent my days as a warrior, I was an administrative assistant. I loved working with the customers and talking to everyone. Back in the day, I worked at Briggs Woods as a clubhouse attendant and the "old" Hy-Vee. Being around people has always been fun for me.

Why I do what I do: It was kind of like "why not" due to a complication from breast cancer. I can't use my arm as much to do typing, writing and other administrative duties. I love seeing people, talking and visiting. I also love a bargain. I want others to be able to purchase quality clothes at prices they can afford and if they can make some "extra cash" by cleaning out their closets - why not?

What makes my job unique: I?want to say the customer service! R Company takes your overstuffed closet and turns it into cash. I personally sort through all consignments. I want to provide the best quality of clothes while getting the best money back for the consignor.

What do I do in my spare time: The Koprivas love entertaining friends. We enjoy grilling out and being with people we love. I?enjoy being with my girls, watching them play sports and tumble, and I am always amazed by them everyday.

How I?give back to my community: Through the store, I am encouraging all my consignors to donate their clothes that don't sell to local agencies. I am starting to volunteer at activities. Now that I am cancer-free and feeling better, the sky is the limit.

My mentor: I?wanted to prove to myself I could do this. Being sick for two years, I really questioned my self worth. My mom ran her own business and is a strong woman as well as my sister Marta. I want to show my girls that they can be strong, independent, do whatever they want.

Contact me at: Call me anytime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 832-1540.
