Lynx, Cadets resume rivalry in final tune-up before district play

WEBSTER CITY — There’s no district jockeying in play. No playoff hopes and dreams will live or die with what happens on the field. Seriously, win or lose, the sun will come up Saturday morning and the coaches will begin preparations for the portion of the season that really matters: the district campaign, which begins next week. But that doesn’t mean the football players from Webster City (1-0) and Iowa Falls-Alden (1-0) have nothing to play for when the two teams stare at one another from across the line of scrimmage tonight at Lynx Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. There’s pride. There’s bragging rights over a North Central Conference rival. And there’s the momentum that will continue to thrive with the team that exits the gridiron with a 2-0 record. So, yeah, I guess you could say there is a lot to play for. “Iowa Falls has a good team and we’ll have to improve from last week if we want to win,” Webster City head coach Bob Howard said. “This will be a good, tough game.
