Home school event at Capitol
DES MOINES —The Capitol rotunda overflowed today with more than 800 homeschooling parents and children as the Network of Iowa Christian Home Educators hosted its annual “Home School Day at the Capitol” earlier this week. Homeschooling families from across Iowa participated in this annual effort to show legislators first-hand the results of home education. According to preregistrations, families representing 84 percent of Iowa Senate districts and 63 percent of Iowa House districts rallied at the state Capitol to receive tips on political involvement, meet with their legislators and share information with lawmakers on issues of importance to homeschooling families. Above, John Farrington and son John Jr., of Webster City, look up at the rotunda. The Farringtons were among the families attending.
