A nostalgic race

Local racing fans will remember Gerald Seiser's 7-Up car. Seiser, of Webster City, had a successful racing career in the 7-Up car at race tracks all over central Iowa. The 7-Up car has been restored by Marty and Nancy Pringle of Otho.
The Hamilton County Fairground’s historic half-mile track, located in Webster City, is the site of the 15th Annual Vintage Race Car gathering Sept. 10 and 11, when vintage race car owners from several Midwestern states will bring their coupes, stock and sprint cars for a weekend of nostalgia and racing. Cars and their owners arrive on Sept. 10 to reminisce, test and tune the racers for the Sept. 11 races. Racing action begins at 6 p.m. on Sept. 11 with heats and feature races. General admission to the grandstand to view the races is $2 for adults and $1 for kids, the same price as in the 1960s. The general public can view the race cars in the pit area from 1 to 3 p.m. each day at no charge. It is expected that many race cars from the past will be on display and in action on Saturday evening along with many long-time local favorite drivers.
