New hospital on track for September finish

March 17, 2010

Construction on the new Hamilton Hospital building is moving along right on schedule, according to Palmer Schneider, hospital administrator. He gave the board of trustees an update on the building project Tuesday night. “We are still on track for completion in September and the move-in on Sept. 27,” he said. Schneider told the board that finishing work was beginning in several areas of the new building. Ceramic flooring has been installed in the kitchen area, and carpeting is being installed in other area. Drywall has gone up in the surgical areas and the skylights in the patient waiting area are now in place, he said. Schneider also said the hospital will need to go to the zoning board of adjustment to request a variance for the landmark sign. The sign will face U.S. Highway 20 and will be about double the size allowed by the zoning ordinances for the area, he said.
